About the Role

As our business continues to grow, our Distillery Door and restaurant kitchen are expanding, creating exciting opportunities for 1st and 2nd year Apprentice Chefs to join our team.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about food, eager to learn, and looking to build a long-term career in hospitality while working in a supportive and creative environment.
Working closely with our Head Chef and experienced kitchen team, you will gain hands-on experience across a variety of kitchen skills while contributing to a food offering that highlights seasonal produce and thoughtful food and gin pairings.
Our Distillery Door operates Wednesday to Sunday, 8am–5pm, with occasional evening events.

Our Distillery

The Farmer’s Wife Distillery is an independent Australian distillery with a traditional yet sustainable approach to crafting quality spirits. Our team has produced a range of award-winning gins enjoyed by customers across Australia.

Our distillery door is set in a beautiful rural location on the Bucketts Way tourist drive, just 45 minutes north of Newcastle. Our traditional yet sustainable approach to distilling has produced award-winning gins, earning recognition both locally and internationally.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is currently a 1st or 2nd year Apprentice Chef (or looking to start an apprenticeship)
  • Has a genuine passion for food and hospitality
  • Is eager to learn and develop their kitchen skills
  • Works well as part of a team
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Has an interest in seasonal produce and Australian native ingredients

Experience working in a commercial kitchen is helpful but not essential.

Experience or interest in solid fuel cooking would be an advantage.
